Carnival Venezia: New York to Bahamas
The start of our nine day cruise to the Bahamas has been a bit of a whirlwind. Three days in, and it simultaneously feels like we’ve been here for a while and we’re just getting started.

MIT Mystery Hunt has been running full steam ahead this weekend! A few weeks ago, I had this weekend circled on my calendar. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to participate much this year.
Five Below occasionally gets discounted escape room games. I’ve previously found scenarios for the Spinmasters games there, and more recently I found an Escape Room Advent Calendar (by Games Hub). For $5, how can you go wrong? Unfortunately, even at the price I can’t recommend this one, especially with how many other options there are.
I was on the fence about participating in Galactic Puzzle Hunt in 2023. I’ve participated before in the past and found that the hunt required a pretty significant time commitment compared to other puzzle hunts. I noticed this both in Galactic’s hunt as well as the MIT Mystery Hunt they facilitated. I cautiously decided to dip my toe in this year. I’m glad I did- it was a blast!
ERChamp 2023 is in the books, and it was a blast. I didn’t know what to expect for the coverage of the in-person finals, but the team did a great job, and it was tremendously entertaining.
Christina’s 300th escape room was supposed to be a simple endeavor. I pegged our trip to Alaska as a great way to make Christina’s 300th memorable by solving a world famous room as #300.
The cruise is over. It’s a bit sad to be finished with the longest vacation I’ve taken in almost a decade (1.5 weeks) but in many ways, it’s also good to be back. The last two days of the cruise covered Ketchikan and a day at sea.
I have two more days to report of my Alaskan journey. This time, I’m covering Juneau and Skagway!
I’m on day three of my Alaska cruise, and I couldn’t be happier. The greatest vacations are the ones on which you truly lose track of time, and I can successfully declare that I barely know what day it is. I can report back a little bit about the journey thus far.
PuzzleDrifter started because of Alaska. At the time I created the site, I was already about two thirds of the way through my 50 state adventure. I sat in the library aboard the Celebrity Millennium to write my first few posts while cruising the Inside Passage, and I published them a few days later after getting back to a place with wifi.
