You may notice a theme with which puzzles appeal to Christina and me. Bright colors? Tasty food? Bingo.
Doughnuts
Manufacturer: Cobble Hill
Pieces: 1000
This was actually our second time completing this puzzle, the first time being in February 2019. We remembered it fondly and knew it would hit the spot as a stress-free puzzle.
Though the puzzle has 1000 pieces, it’s tremendously easy to sort. There are more than a few unique doughnuts, and by sorting those out it essentially becomes a game of putting together a 1000 piece puzzle made up of 20-25 piece puzzles. The only hitch is a few very similarly colored black frosted doughnuts, but saving those for last and fitting them by shape made this still quite easy.
It’s a bit simpler of a challenge than the recent Candylicious puzzle we solved, which required a frequent reevaluation of which themes could be picked out of the unused pieces. That’s not always a bad thing, especially as we often multitask while working on a puzzle, so it doesn’t need to command our full attention.
Any time we solve a food puzzle like this, I’m always left wondering- did the artist eat nothing but doughnuts for the next week?
Piece total since 3/20/2020: 7527
