Quick update today, since it’s already 12:30 AM in Chicago. But the MIT Puzzle Hunt has begun, and it’s pretty awesome.

Exit Games: The Stormy Flight
I find myself enjoying the Exit series by Cosmos more with each new set I play. Part of it is my expectations being set appropriately, part of it is improved design. Stormy Flight doesn’t quite reach a new high in the series for me, but it’s close.
4 Days, 6 Escape Rooms
I can’t imagine a better way to start the year. By the end of the day on January 4th, I had already completed 6 escape rooms, with only one of them in my home state of Illinois.
On the Road: Springfield, MO
Jan 2, 2021 – Christina and I hit the road for the first time in a while to head down to Springfield, MO. In 2018, I passed near here on my way to Tulsa, but I hadn’t thoroughly explored the area.
New Page – My Puzzles
It’s been a long-time desire of mine to spend more time creating puzzles, and it’s never been easier. There are almost too many tools to use to create, and it’s about time I start taking advantage of them.
Puzzle Boat 3 Completed! 0 Hints!
After just 20 days this time, our team, The Sign of the Four, completed Puzzle Boat 3, this time with zero hints! That compares to 31 days and many hints for Puzzle Boat 2, so I’m very happy with how our team worked through this one.
Final 16
Two weeks in and we’re closing in on the finish line of Puzzle Boat 3. What difference a little experience makes.
Full Puzzle Immersion
48 down, 77 to go. Puzzle Boat 3 is under way, and my team has been cranking through!
Chess: Chasing 50%
When I started playing chess recently, I had a very promising start, winning almost all of my first ten rapid chess games. Then I ran into a depressing realization; I was barely playing.
Review: Return of the Obra Dinn
I have to admit- I had never heard of Return of the Obra Dinn until I saw a plug for it on sale on a deals website, with one of the comments indicating that it’s a great mystery game to play together with others on a couch. With that little plug, I was sold, and I bought a copy for my Nintendo Switch.
