Customers Always Right?

December 12, 2021 Brian Gondek 0

Every once in a while, I get a reminder about how the overall customer experience is more important than any one aspect of an escape room. I’ve shared before about how a strong game master can elevate an average experience and an inattentive one can ruin a world class game. I recently got a reminder of exactly why this is so important.

ERChamp 2021: The Finale

December 5, 2021 Brian Gondek 0

Though my team didn’t qualify for the ERChamp finals this year, we still went back and played the finale as soon as we had a chance. Short summary- we really enjoyed it despite getting stuck badly early on. I’m already looking forward to next year’s contest.

Augmented Reality Point & Click Geocaching

This game doesn’t exist yet, but I’m dabbling with creating an entry for it. The setup cost is low – zero if I keep it to the minimum viable product – but with just a little added investment I can make it extremely neat.

Nampa, ID: Labyrinth Escape Games – Shipwrecked & Nightwalker 1944

October 11, 2021 – It was the last full day of our tour around the American west, and we still had a long way to go. We started the day in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and we had a reservation at a VRBO in Boise, Idaho. Everything in between was a blank slate. But as I looked to my plan for the day, I realized I really wanted to squeeze in a room at Labyrinth Escape.

4 States. 9 Escape Rooms. 1 Potential Murder?

October 13, 2021 Brian Gondek 0

Our trip was a success! Starting and ending in Boise, Idaho, Christina and I completed a big circle around the northwest US, solving nine escape rooms along the way. But our strangest story involved VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner), not escape rooms.

Western US – Oct 6 through 12!

October 6, 2021 Brian Gondek 0

It’s been a little while since we’ve taken a trip containing both a flight and a road trip. The last one that really hit that mark was exploring Colorado/Wyoming/Montana/Idaho at the end of 2018. I’m glad to say we’re back at it!

Oak Brook, IL: Escape the Room – Clock Tower and The Theater

September 30, 2021 Brian Gondek 0

September 1, 2021 – I had been avoiding Escape the Room Oak Brook. I had one prior experience in 2018 with Escape the Room, playing The Dig with a group of friends almost immediately after returning from a long road trip including Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and South Dakota. We felt The Dig was ok, and given that it’s quite pricy for smaller groups, I steered clear of another trip in this direction.

500 down!

September 23, 2021 Brian Gondek 0

500 escape rooms- it’s sort of hard to believe. If each room averages one hour, that almost three weeks of my life spent playing escape rooms, 24×7. If I started solving escape rooms full time, nine to five, it would take me more than twelve weeks to hit this mark.
