And… Home Again

The trip to Denver was wonderful, start to finish. Rabbit Hole’s second room did not disappoint, and in addition to three other escape rooms, Christina and I also managed to do some hiking, visit an interactive art exhibit, and stop at some of our favorite pit stops.

I’ll dive more into some of the specific adventures & escape rooms separately, but a quick summary of our journey:

Friday night we departed Chicago late in the evening, arriving at our hotel in Denver about 12:30 AM Denver time (1:30 Chicago time). The rental agency ran out of compacts so we ended up with a Dodge Journey SUV- aside from the 15 gallons of gas I had to supply it with, it was great.

Saturday morning we slept as late as we could, then headed straight to Rabbit Hole Recreation Services and played room #2, Paradox. After that we grabbed lunch at Village Tavern before heading north to Fort Collins to hike Horsetooth Mountain Falls Trail. In Fort Collins we played ConTRAPtion’s 90 minute Plight of the Margo escape room before heading back to Denver and grabbing Mama Alvino’s pizza before calling it a night.

Sunday morning we started by going to church, then grabbing brunch at Breakfast Queen before visiting the Natura Obscura interactive art exhibit (pictured). After that we played the Mask room at Puzzah before finishing our trip with the Terminal room at Themescape.

We packed the weekend to the brim with a great mix of activities. I love the variety Denver has to offer, and how traffic seems pretty mild compared to most other active cities.

Christina and I didn’t get home until after 1AM, and we both had to work the following day. It wasn’t as bad as it might seem since we were energized from a great weekend. We even went almost straight after work to watch the Chicago Wolves beat the Iowa Wild and move on to round 3 of the AHL playoffs!

I’m looking forward to dissecting some of our experiences further, both the escape rooms and the other sights like Horsetooth Mountain and Natura Obscura. I’m glad Chicago often has cheap flights to Denver, because I’m already looking forward to my next trip there!
