No guarantees that I’ll do this, but a fun idea I’ve been floating as states start to come off of COVID-19 lockdowns…
I live in Illinois, which is all but guaranteed to be one of the final three states released from lockdown due to the considerations around the city of Chicago. With that being the case, Christina and I are likely going to need to continue working remotely at least two weeks after the other midwest states start reopening.
With that being the case, we could theoretically work from hotels around the country and drive ~4 hours a day in the evenings to get to our next destination. We can see plenty of the country as it starts to reopen!
A quick itinerary of destinations:
- St. Louis, MO
- Springfield, MO
- Oklahoma City, OK
- Wichita, KS
- Grand Island, NE
- Pierre, SD
- Rapid City, SD
- Buffalo, WY
- Billings, MT
- Glendive, MT
- Bismarck, ND
- Aberdeen, SD
- Sioux City, IA
- Waterloo, IA
I’m probably not actually going to do this, because I don’t want to commit to 5 hours of driving per day plus an hour for an escape room for fourteen days in a row, but fun to think about! Mount Rushmore is high on my list of places I haven’t seen, so even if I don’t go for the crazy fourteen day trip, there still might be an opportunity to explore the midwest somewhere in this crazy time.
