I joined a team for Cryptex Hunt 2021, and we’re killing it! I had never heard of this contest before this year, but it’s fantastic. Highly recommended for fans of old adventure games like Zork, Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, and Shadowgate. And huge bonus points to anyone else who has ever heard of my favorite games of that genre- Hugo’s House of Horrors, Hugo 2: Whodunnit, and Hugo 3: Jungle of Doom.

Game Mini-Review: Death Come True (Spoiler Free)

Death Come True is not exactly a puzzle game, but there are puzzle and mystery elements scattered throughout. The premise of the game- navigate various video scenes, making decisions at key moments that impact the flow of the story. Many of these choices lead to death, but rather than being penalized for death, you’re rewarded for it, collecting “death medals” for each death reached and unlocking secret videos for collecting many of these.

MIT Puzzle Hunt 2021 – Chapter 2

Puzzle Hunt is over. It took just over two days and one of the teams solved all puzzles necessary to declare a win. It was a very impressive experience, with a lot of pros and cons.

Exit Games: The Stormy Flight

I find myself enjoying the Exit series by Cosmos more with each new set I play. Part of it is my expectations being set appropriately, part of it is improved design. Stormy Flight doesn’t quite reach a new high in the series for me, but it’s close.

Puzzle Boat 3 Completed! 0 Hints!

After just 20 days this time, our team, The Sign of the Four, completed Puzzle Boat 3, this time with zero hints! That compares to 31 days and many hints for Puzzle Boat 2, so I’m very happy with how our team worked through this one.
