Stamford, CT: Trap’t – Time Chasers

August 14, 2018 Brian Gondek 0

July 28, 2018 – Grabbing a coffee at Culture Espresso in New York City, I pull out my phone and scan over a map of the northern metro rail.  New Haven appears to be the biggest city in Connecticut on the line… but Stamford is a lot closer.  I cross-check “Stamford” and “escape room”, and voila: Trap’t!

Puzzle #9: More Wacky Geography

This week’s puzzle is thematically similar to last week’s- interesting geography with key context clues removed.  How will you fare this time?  Give it your best shot.

New York, NY: OMEscape – Laboratory of Biohazard

July 28, 2018 – I landed in LaGuardia, nabbed a metro pass from the kiosk, and headed for Manhattan.  I hadn’t the faintest plan at the time of when to do what, so I was pleasantly surprised that OMEscape had a reasonably early group I could join up with.  After exploring Times Square briefly, I took a quick walk to OMEscape and signed in.

July 28-31: East Coast, No Car

August 5, 2018 Brian Gondek 0

Well… That was an adventure.  I booked a flight to New York City and a flight back from Washington DC with not a detail planned in between.  Somehow, it all worked out.  I had a lot of fun, with tons of surprises along the way.  I’ll be making separate posts regarding the escape rooms I solved in each city; for now this is just a summary of how I got around.

Puzzle #8: More Meanderings

August 1, 2018 Brian Gondek 1

To commemorate a weekend of heavy travel and miles and miles of walking, this week’s puzzle is related to navigation and the what one might find while exploring.  This weekend I knocked six more states, plus the DC bonus, off my 2018 checklist.

Puzzle #7: Lost in a Labyrinth

Only one day remains before the clock runs out on the puzzle #6 response window!  If no one beats the 44 letter mark, a winner will be crowned! Today’s puzzle once again changes the nature of the game.  We started with number puzzles, spent a week on a word puzzle, and now we’ve got ourselves a fresh logic puzzle!  This one puts you in the shoes of an adventurer in a strange maze.

Northwest Pacific: Celebrity Millennium & The Adventure of the Millennium Door

July 24, 2018 Brian Gondek 1

June 1, 2018 (Flashback) – After departing Anchorage, I watched the Alaskan scenery on a bus ride to the cruise port in Seward.  No mountain goats but one moose and plenty of avian wildlife.  After a shockingly short check-in process (no lines!), it was all aboard and bon voyage.  And to my great surprise, my ship, the Celebrity Millennium, was not without puzzles of its own!
