Fair or foul, having a puzzle where the answer is not technically correct when written, but it’s fine when spoken? Take a pile of junk, add an S at the start, and you get a wooly creature. HEAP / SHEEP. While SHEAP is not a word, it works when spoken aloud.
May 27, 2018 – At long last, I had reached the final point of my road trip through the midwest. Chicago to St. Louis to Kansas City to Tulsa to Omaha to Sioux Falls, all before heading back to Chicago. My poor car had to get back to back oil changes with the mileage I put on it. But it was well worth it- both Escapades and the town of Sioux Falls were extremely memorable.
Yes, I’m a day late with puzzle #39… But as far as I know, puzzle #38 has not been answered yet, so there’s been something to work on in the meantime! Either way, it’s time I post a new puzzle for the week.
No, this post title isn’t an Antarctica-themed escape room. It’s a summary of my weekend. Christina and I hit the road right after work Friday and headed north, despite warnings of a serious snowstorm.
Do puzzles and trivia go hand in hand? Both are mental challenges, but being interested in one doesn’t necessarily mean you’re interested in both. Personally, I like both, but I prefer puzzles over trivia.
May 27, 2018 – I had a magical day on the way to Get Out Omaha. My route took me through a few small town south of Omaha, one of which (Plattsmouth) required a journey across a long, narrow toll bridge meant for only one car at a time. I grabbed a late breakfast at Mom’s Cafe in town, trying an omelet with gravy (very different!)
I feel like the twelve projects I’m taking on for 2019 are pretty manageable (at least the first few), yet I’m running into the problem of having no time to dedicate to them. I’m looking at spending a vacation day this week to get some headway and get back on track, and I may need to use a few more days the same way to make this goal a reality.
Something like 99% of the escape rooms I’ve visited have used the standard one hour limit. It’s a nice round number, but does it really make the most sense? Some venues push the limits by offering 90 minute experiences, while others pull back and try to contain everything within 45. What difference does it really make?
My January project is still behind schedule, but I have been moving forward with my February project as well, and I’ve got something fun planned for March already. I’m finding my biggest challenges are committing to elements related to artistic design, but at some point soon I’ll sketch out a concept and stick to it!
February 9, 2019 – There’s a lot to cover in this post. Not only was my visit to Escape Room Ensenada my 300th escape room, but it was also the first time I attempted an escape room in a non-English language. The rooms I completed in Singapore and Japan were English-friendly, so this was a completely new challenge for me.
