Long Drive East
It’s nice being back in the swing of things with travel. Only a few weeks after circumventing Lake Michigan, we’re hitting the road for a long journey eastward.

Today I’ve finally completed something I’ve had in motion for a long time- starting a business! It’s called Glowing Key, LLC.
With everything that’s going on, and with approaching my 600th escape room, I very nearly missed out on reporting about a neat trip I took recently- a big loop around Lake Michigan, including a trip to Mackinac Island!
Saturday, September 3rd – There was no guarantee I was going to be able to participate in the Great US Treasure Hunt this year. I was excited when Milwaukee was on the list of cities hosting the hunt this year, but on the day of the hunt my wife and I had a commitment to be hosting family at our cabin in northern Wisconsin- nearly three hours north of Milwaukee.
I’m currently smack dab in the middle of my busiest stretch of travel in quite some time, and between travel, work, and outside commitments, this may be the busiest I’ve been in my life. Not even factoring in trying to start a business and repair a barn.
This last week contained my biggest adventure in a long time. After spending a few days in Las Vegas, Christina and I flew to South Dakota and experienced several national parks, including Mount Rushmore.
Yes, this is the worst photo I’ve used on my blog. Blurry photo through windowshades with a too-visible screen. But it’s Vegas!
I stumbled across an incredible little travel secret this week while planning a Vegas trip. It’s going to revolutionize how I travel.
As we’re getting the Chicago escape room meetup going, it’s probably a good time to talk about what makes meeting up with new people exciting. I always love getting to play escape rooms with new people, and whether those people are trying their first escape room or thousandth, it’s more likely than not going to be a great experience.
Out of all the escape room / puzzle home games, I’ve seen the most hype around Box One. Produced by Neil Patrick Harris, the actor famous for Doogie Howser, How I Met Your Mother, and Doctor Horrible, the game graces the shelves of Target- a rare feat for a niche puzzle game that doesn’t advertise what exactly it is. So does the game live up to the hype?
